Pit Fall Trap
Pit trap for catching ground dwelling arthropods (like spiders!).

Pit trap for ground dwelling arthropods (yes, it does look a lot like a simple plastic container, doesn't it?)

Bear poop with beetles
This bear scat was crawling with beautiful "burying beetles" (Nicrophorus genus). These probably aren't what we will collect, but they are neat! Note: the bear was eating twin berries, which is a species of plant we sampled (Lonicera involucrata)!

Flying Insect Trap
No, it's not a microphone... (someone thought it was, at first glance!). See the next pictures for a look inside!

Flying Insect Trap
Maybe a bee will want to get cozy in here...

Flying Insect Trap
Looks inviting, right?

Clearwing Moth
We are not collecting samples of this insect, but it was really cool to see it out pollinating plants in July! Hemaris Thetis, or Rocky Mountain Clearwing (it looks like a be, but it's a moth!).
